Recommended Siem Reap | Cambodia Hotels

Angkor Wat - The grandest of them all!

Here are my picks for best hotels to stay at in Cambodia. Since Cambodia is a developing country, prices are lower than what you would expect to pay in other countries. This means you can afford to splurge!

I recommending booking your rooms on the following sites specializing in South East Asian travel for the best rates:
  • Asia Rooms

  • Zuji.com

  • FCC Angkor
I distinctly the colonial style of this hotel as we drove past it in Siem Reap. The hotel's restaurant looked so inviting with its high ceilings and airy balconies. The perfect place to relax with a cocktail after a day of playing Lara Croft!

I shall defer to Inspira's entry, (Un)reap(ed):(Un)defeat(ed) for a complete review.

    Hotel De La Paix
This hotel has received rave reviews from several of my friends. Hotel De La Paix is a boutique hotel situated in the heart of town steps away from restaurants and shops. Prices average $250 a night. The hotel was constructed in 2005 and is geared towards the technologically savy customer with its wireless internet, DVD players and accompanying iPods!

    Le Meridien Angkor
For those of you who are Starwood members like me, a wonderful option is the Le Meridien Angkor. This hotel costs approximately US$160 a night and is situated close to both the temples and the town center. Both a short tuk tuk ride away. (Approximately $US2 is a fair price.)

The service was wonderful. On our arrival we were treated to a lemongrass tea. The staff also left little mid afternoon treats daily in our hotel room. These ranged from macarons to marshmellows. Yum!

I really enjoyed lounging in the pool at the hotel since the weather is extremely hot and humid!

Finally, the hotel cafe serves up a decent breakfast buffet with lots of local fruit when you aren't in the mood to head out.

    Amansara Siem Reap
I put Amansara at the end of the list because it's really the most ostentatious of all the resorts. This resort used to be the guesthouse of Cambodia's former King Sihanouk. Suites range from $750-$1000 per night and promises exclusivity, personalized service, and isolation from the outside world. A great honeymoon spot? They even arrange helicopter tours of the temples at Angkor!

Into the view with a classical haven

"We chose the cast iron tub and floor-mounted bath faucet to match the traditional ambience of the bathroom." Said architect Philip Porritt of the designed en suite with a spectacle view of a harbor, as quoted by trustworthy construction in Cambodia construction materials.
On top of being a classic oasis, the bathroom needed to have a sense of extravagance that would not out of date as Porritt explained: "A luxurious feel was a priority and it was important to give a timeless, classical look – one that would meet current expectations and still be good in 20 years time."

The designer furthered: "We incorporated a large glass shower cubical with dual showering options and a hand-held, chromed brass shower rose in the bathtub."

Functionality also considered as Porritt highlighted: "Because the wall tiles measure 1000mm x 330mm, we needed a perfectly flush wall, to achieve a good result."

The A New Chatroom App, Rooms

Facebook has announced a new chatroom app called Rooms where people can talk about shared interests under fake names, leading to digital marketing agency reported.
Mention that, in the late '90s when you would kill time in AOL and IRC chatrooms, you needed to have a conversation with strangers about subjects you were all interested in, say "The X-Files," container gardening or The Fugees.
Moreover, Facebook want to bring some of that community back with a fun new iOS app called Rooms.
One more thing you can start a "room" for "Law & Order" fan fiction writers, toss up a background photo of Olivia Benson and customize your name or like button with gun or knife emojis.
Indeed, people who join the “Rooms” can post photos, text and videos. You can share the invite or keep the guest list short, though the posts are public.
